District LogoCongratulations Graduates,

Last Thursday’s news about our in-person conferring of diplomas was exciting.  We are excited to be able to celebrate you and to give you your diplomas on June 6, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.

The Class of 2020 Virtual Commencement Ceremony will “air” beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday June 6th.  A link to the virtual ceremony will be provided to our families.  This link is good for anytime and does not need to be watched specifically at 10 a.m.
Following the viewing of the virtual ceremony, our graduates are invited to come up to the Alternative Learning Center (ALC), according to the schedule below.  They will participate in our Graduation Celebration and Diploma Ceremony.  We will be taking every precaution to adhere to necessary social distancing and safety protocol.  Graduates are encouraged to wear a mask which can be removed when it is time for photos.

In order to make the diploma ceremony enjoyable and as smooth and safe as possible, please read carefully and follow all instructions.
  • Each vehicle must be a traditional family vehicle (car, truck, SUV) and cannot be an RV, limo, bus or any similar type of non-traditional family vehicle.
  • Only one family vehicle will be allowed per graduate. The graduate MUST be in the vehicle. The driver MUST be someone other than the graduate.
  • Vehicles should only contain members of your household or family.  Graduates from different homes should not arrive in the same vehicle together.
  • Families should have a sign in the lower front passenger side window with the graduate’s first and last name in it (large enough font to read from afar).
  • Families are encouraged to decorate their cars to celebrate their Graduate!  Decorations must be school appropriate.
  • Graduates should come dressed in school approved cap and gown and school provided regalia. A reminder that caps and gowns cannot be decorated.
  • Families will need to come during their designated time according to the schedule below in order to ensure the safety of our staff and students and to ensure the process runs as smoothly as possible.  We have many Graduates to celebrate, please be patient with the process.  Diplomas will only be available during your designated time. Vehicles arriving before their scheduled time will be turned around.
  • Family members MUST remain in their vehicle at all times.  At the designated location, the graduate only will be able to get out of the car and walk through a series of stops on the sidewalk in front of the building.  The family will be able to follow along-side them in the car taking pictures from the vehicle.
  • Graduates may wear comfortable shoes they can easily walk in.

You will enter the ALC from the west side of 18 Mile Road, please note that no left turns will be permitted into the parking lot.   Follow the green arrows around the building.  When you come to the yellow “GRADUATE ONLY” area, you will exit your vehicle from the passenger side. Your driver will continue to follow you in their car.  The graduate will proceed to our first stop, where they will walk across a covered stage, receive their diploma cover, and have a professional picture taken.  Family members cannot get out of their cars but are encouraged to take pictures.  The Professional photo will be taken by Graduation Foto (a proof will be mailed to your home in - if you have any questions, you’ll need to call them directly at 1-800-482-0321). As part of our planning process, we are taking precautions to adhere to necessary social distancing and safety protocol.  Graduates are encouraged to wear a mask which can be removed when it is time for photos.  Professional photos will be taken at two separate stops detailed below.  We are pleased to provide every graduate one free photo that will be sent directly to your home!

At the second stop, graduates will receive their actual diploma, graduation programs, and a t-shirt.  There will be another professional picture taken. Again, family members cannot get out of their cars, but are encouraged to take pictures.
Sidewalks will be marked to ensure the students are appropriately socially distancing.
After this last stop, the graduate will re-enter the car and will exit out of ALC parking lot onto 18 Mile Rd.
Again, for the safety of all staff and students, graduates and families will not be allowed to congregate on the grounds and must adhere to all social distancing guidelines.
