Dear UCS Community:
I hope all of you had a
safe and relaxing spring break. As we look toward the return to school
on Monday, I want to share with you a brief update regarding next week’s
schedule. This is especially important given ongoing conversations at
the state level regarding the status of high school in-person learning
and student athletics.
As we have navigated the COVID-19 environment, we have
consistently followed three key priorities throughout our planning
efforts: the health and safety of our community; educational excellence,
equity and access for all students; and our ability to effectively
implement our learning plan. Our
learning plan addresses all three areas as we continue to move
forward. Messaging and open communications such as this are intended to
provide our families with the most recent information to allow for
planning and promote stability to the extent possible.
At this time our learning plan coming out of Spring Break remains as previously communicated, highlighted by the following:
- All K-12 students will remain in a remote learning environment for the week of April 12.
- Secondary students will also have
an opportunity to take college readiness exams as scheduled next week.
The remote learning week will allow us to provide enhanced safety
measures by limiting access to the building to only students taking part
in the college readiness exams.
- For student athletes, COVID-19 testing is in place to allow for practices to begin as scheduled.
- We
are continuing to plan for a return to four days
of in-person instruction the week of April 19, with Wednesday being a
remote learning day. However, we must continue to carefully monitor
local factors including new cases, positive test rates, vaccinations and
mitigation efforts.
